|Description:||The Systems Administrator will monitor and troubleshoot to maintain high availability of network (both LAN and WAN), facilities systems, voice systems (telecommunications), hubs and routers, and servers through the use of system management tools. This role includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network software and communication links. In addition, the role analyzes and resolves end user software program and connectivity issues, and provides end user training where required.|
|Duties:|| Manage and administer all operating systems and their corresponding or associated software.|
Manage communications and connection solutions, including local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications.
Manage and ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases and data transfer.
Deploy and maintain firewalls and all host security activities.
Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user desktops.
Install and configure messaging and printer systems.
Distribute and supervise server storage space allotments.
Design and implement disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications.
Provide on-call technical support.
Analyze system or application usage and plan for growth or increases in network capacity.
Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute as required.
Ensure connectivity of all workstations.
Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services.
Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Establish service level agreements with end users.
Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
Perform network and security audits.
Perform system backups.
Monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports.
Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.
Manage and/or provide guidance to lesser experience team members.
|Qualifications:|| Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline from four-year college or university.|
Systems Administration certification such as MCSA or other equivalent
Strong operating systems experience such as Microsoft Win2k, Win2k3, Red Hat Linux, Sun Solaris 9 and 10 and Cisco operating systems
Demonstrated proficiency in using features / functions of hardware for distributed platforms and/or voice systems.
Demonstrated proficiency in using security administration tools and network management tools
Experience troubleshooting large, complex systems with an eCommerce emphasis
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong understanding of Load Balancer configurations and utilization
Application Support and Deployment experience
Effectively communicates technical issues in a non-technical manner
Proven experience with a scripting language (Batch, Shell, Perl, SQL, etc)
Server Security/Hardening experience
Mail server experience
